Gloucestershire Archives looks after the historic archive collections relating to Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire and the local and family history resources relating to Gloucestershire. They help people to access and use these records and also provide access to published resources via six library-based Local and Family History Centres across Gloucestershire.
The archive collections date from the 12th century to the present day and include records of the diocese of Gloucester, ancient boroughs, quarter sessions and other courts, councils, schools, hospitals, charities and a huge variety of other local organisations, businesses and private families and individuals. Gloucestershire Archives are the designated place of deposit for public records relating to Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
